Easy install, a little less than an hour, because of the update software, software intuitive. I find that the possibilities of modification are limited. * The logicielWD Smartware software does not know how to back up a network drive (like nas, Free for example), only the local drives of the pc are taken into account. (so I don't use it), waiting for an eventual update. * The android apps for phone are the basics, but allow you to without difficulty access the Cloud. I criticize, however, the inability to save photos from phone to a personal folder other than "Public" that is accessible by all users. * This cloud seems to be coming out of its automatic sleep all alone, without no one is accessing it??? !! The performances are very correct, it is much more powerful than a NAS (throughput read/write close to 110Mo/s, enough to saturate a link gigabit), however, we must not forget that it is a micro server, it is not done for the big virtualization: a) Level of connectors, the use of the SATA and the presence of many usb ports (one internal) make it an inexpensive machine to be filled, and scalable. This machine also supports DDR3 non-ECC, you can easily find kits up to 8gb non-ECC for about thirty euros :) (by cons attention, mixing ECC/non-ECC banned).. Using as a web server, storage and private cloud, I am very satisfied with its performance... I recommend itRAS works perfectly and is relatively simple to use with some basic knowledge in computer and network configuration. No problemLarge capacity and fairly quiet. Impossible to make a "safepoint" backup of your MyCloud as an image of this size requires a external drive of 500 GB!! Once all your documents are stored on this machine, there is no "search" function to find what you have stored and where. If you want to save your MAC, forget it, it is slow, and instability incoyable. To back up a few files in offices why not, but this is not a true nas. the problem of disconnection of the network after a time of use is present. I have returned a first device, the second one has the same defect. the service has no effective solution. a big drawback.... This is my first NAS and who know nothing in this field, I have to say that setup and installation was very easy! Student in Computer science, I use my PC mobile, fixed and toying some time with the computers of the college and the fact of having this tool and very useful as it synchronizes all of my work and I can find them at home in the evening while returning from the university without worrying about making the copy/paste on my USB key. And then I like to centralize all my videos, music, and other files and access them from any connected device. It is web server personal with the MySQL server and the ability to connect to it remotely. It can be hosted also JAVA applications!! You can control it via SSH and even Telnet enable FTP, SFTP, HTTPS, and a whole bunch of network protocol. DSM 5. 0 is a very nice interface, easy to take in hand... that is pure happiness for me! The sharing of stored files is done simply and efficiently. It holds the road and its transfer performance is rather good. I bought it during a promo, so get down to 120€, it became my central server for storage and backup of my data. It is the perfect product for people whose use will be limited to storage and backup. Shift 05/11/2015 :After 6 months of intensive use, non-stop, and the 2tb filled on the 2. 7 Tb available (4 HDD of 1tb in SHR mode), the big panic : one of my HDD crashed (the HDD in question was not a new one when I installed it on the NAS). Thinking that I had lost 1/4 of my data, the web interface of the NAS asked me to replace the HDD in question with a new one, which I did.
